Who is it for?
Anyone in the general population can benefit from mindfulness practices, if they feel comfortable and willing to engage.
In the health sector, MBSR is mainly used to support people with stress, anxiety, mild depression and chronic pain, as well as to alleviate stress related to many medical conditions such as cancer.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommend mindfulness to prevent depression in those who have been through 3 or more bouts of depression. However its use is not advised in cases of severe depression.

Who benefits from MBSR? - What does the research say?
On the whole there is a large amount of evidence suggesting MBSR does have positive effects on a variety of people regardless of their condition. Specially in terms of psychological wellbeing and developing ways of coping with stress, anxiety or illness. However mindfulness is not for everyone, some people simply do not like it and would benefit more from using an alternative method.
